  • So far, you’ve edited images that have only one layer, the original layer of an image called the   Background   layer. However, while working in an image-editing program like Pixlr Editor, images can have multiple layers. Think of layers as clear sheets stacked on top of each other, each having part of the complete image your eye sees.

    There are some great advantages to using layers when editing an image.
