    A Home Care Aide may be asked to assist the client with bathing, personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, feeding, walking, and transferring from bed to chair, commode, or wheelchair.

    Also, you may be asked to perform light housekeeping tasks, prepare meals, do laundry, buy food, and provide a safe environment for the client.

    You are part of a team. Most of the time you will be working alone, but other team members may come in to give treatments or give physical therapy. Your supervisor will go over your responsibilities and the client's care plan. If you have questions, be sure to ask your supervisor.

    Your agency may ask you to keep a log of what you did. For your own personal protection write down the day, time, and what you did for the client. Be descriptive and note color, consistency, and frequency. Be sure to report any changes in the client to your supervisor.
