    Both for your safety and the safety of your ambulatory client, there are things you can do to provide a safe environment. Depending on your client and their ability to move about in their home, consider the following suggestions for maintaining a safe home environment.

    • Make sure there is adequate lighting in all areas of the home.

    Older adults are more susceptible to falling due to the aging process. A simple fall may result in a broken hip. You need to be very alert to hazards that might cause a fall.

    If your client is confused , you will want to take other precautions.
