Determiners
::确定者Determiners
::确定者Determiners are parts of speech that give us general information a noun or noun phrase. General information determiners give can be about the specificity (a/an/the), number (first/second/many/few) or position (this/that) of the noun in relationship to the speaker. Determiners always come before a noun.In order to choose the correct determiner for any noun, we need to know whether the noun is count or non count. If the noun is countable, we need to decide if we need a plural or a singular noun. If the noun is plural, we will choose a determiner that modifies plural nouns. See the example below:
::为了选择任何名词的正确确定者, 我们需要知道名词是计数还是不计数。 如果名词是计数的, 我们需要决定我们是否需要一个多元名词还是单名词。 如果名词是复数, 我们将选择一个修改复数名词的确定者。 见下面的例子 :This weekend , I got a new puppy at the shelter .
::这个周末,我有一个新小狗 在收容所。The nouns weekend, puppy, and shelter are all countable. They have a plural and singular form. Since they are are all in their singular form, I chose to add singular determiners to each one. Here is exactly how I decided to add each determiner:
::周末的名词,小狗和避难所都是可以计数的。它们具有多元和单一的形式。由于它们都是单形的,所以我选择给每个名称添加单数的确定者。这就是我决定给每个确定者添加的:-
This
weekend
: I chose
this
because I wanted to show which weekend I got the puppy.
This
tells the listener that I got the puppy last weekend - not just any weekend.
::这个周末:我选择这个是因为我想展示哪个周末我得到了小狗。这告诉听众,我上周末得到了小狗,而不仅仅是任何周末。 -
a
new
puppy
: I chose the determiner
a
because there were many puppies in the shelter. I chose only one of them. It is the first time I am talking about this puppy, so I need to use a general determiner.
::一只新小狗:我选择了决定者,是因为收容所里有很多小狗。我只选择了其中一只。这是我第一次谈论这只小狗,所以我需要使用一个一般决定者。 -
the
shelter
: I chose to use the determiner
the
because there is only one shelter in my home area. The listener will understand there is only one when I use
the.
If there were many shelters in my area, I might use
a
to show that I went to one of several.
::避难所:我选择使用确定者,因为我家里只有一个避难所。听众会明白,当我使用避难所的时候,只有一个避难所。如果在我的地区有许多庇护所,我可以用一个表明我去过几个避难所中的一个。
You can see that there are a lot of decisions to make about which determiners to use! Sometimes your choices will change depending on your situation. We will practice how to make these decisions and describe some of the rules to follow in the following sections.

Kinds of Determiners
::确定者的类型There are many kinds of determiners, and sometimes we can use more than one determiner to describe or modify a noun. We will group the kinds of determiners into two categories:
::确定者有很多种,有时我们可以用一个以上的确定者来描述或修改一个名词。我们将把确定者分为两类:-
main determiners
::主要确定者 -
pre/post determiners
::前/后确定者

Let's Review
::让我们回顾一下In order to choose the right determiners to go with your nouns, you need to think about the following things:
::为了选择正确的决定者 与你的名词去, 你需要考虑以下的事情:-
Is the noun count or non-count?
::名词是算还是算不算? -
If the noun is countable, is it plural or singular?
::如果名词是可计数的,是复数还是单数? -
Is the noun general or specific to me (and the listener?) Often, we need to refer to a noun generally first, and then we can refer to it specifically.
::通常,我们需要先提及一个名词,然后我们可以具体提及它。
Asking yourself these questions will help you to decide which determiners to use and to catch errors in your sentences.
::问自己这些问题会帮助你决定使用哪些决定者,Number 3 is the hardest because it often depends on your knowledge, your listeners' knowledge, and the context or situation you are in. For this course, as long as you can explain your choices, you will get credit! Don't be afraid to guess and experiment, and then ask someone if your meaning is clear. This is the best way to learn a language.
::3号是最困难的, 因为它往往取决于您的知识, 听众的知识, 以及您所处的环境或状况。 对于这个课程, 只要您可以解释您的选择, 您就会获得信用! 不要害怕猜测和实验, 然后询问某人您的意思是否明确。 这是学习语言的最佳方法 。
