Osmotic pressure is a measure of the tendency of a solution to take in water by a process called osmosis. Osmosis is a process where water passes though the boundary between the two liquids. The formula for calculating the osmotic pressure is , where is the pressure between the water and the solution, is the molar concentration (essentially the concentration of the solution), is the gas constant , and is the temperature in Kelvin. 1
