    Do you see any numbers that appear on both number lines? Why do you think these numbers appear twice?

    The numbers 1, 2, and 3 appear in both number lines. The numbers have different meanings depending on which number line they appear. Because each number line has a different meaning (centimeters and millimeters) the same numbers on  different lines  represent different lengths .
