    Count vs. Non-Count (Mass) Nouns

    Count and noun-count nouns are kinds of nouns. Each kind of noun has rules for the ways it is used. You can use nouns, especially new vocabulary, correctly if you know some of the rules. Of course, there are nouns that break the rules! Welcome to English, but most nouns do follow the rules that go with their type or kind. 
    ::计数名和记名名词都是名词。 每种名词都有其使用方式的规则。 您可以使用名词, 特别是新词汇, 如果您知道其中的一些规则, 可以正确使用名词 。 当然, 有名词可以打破规则 ! 欢迎使用英语, 但大多数名词确实遵守了使用其类型或类型的规则 。

       Count Nouns
    ::名词数

    These are nouns that have a plural form. For regular count nouns, you can add an -s or -es to them to make them plural .  Irregular count nouns also have plural forms. 

    Examples:
    ::实例:

    man (irregular noun, singular)
    ::男性(非正常名词,单数)

    men (irregular noun, plural)
    ::男性(非正常名词,复数)

    ear (regular n, singular)
    :sad正正n,单数)

    ears (regular n, plural)
    :sad定期 n, 复数)

    Pause for a moment, and think of at least six other count nouns you know. Try to think of some regular and irregular nouns. 
    ::暂停一下,想想你认识的至少另外六个名词。试着想想一些普通的和不正常的名词。

     

       Non-count (Mass) Nouns
    ::无记号(大号)名

    These nouns do not have a plural form or the plural form is not usually used with this kind of nouns.  Other nouns that are often non-count are called  abstract  nouns. These nouns are about ideas rather than things, people or places. For example,  happiness is an abstract, non-count noun.  

    Examples:
    ::实例:

    traffic (non-count noun) happiness (non-count, abstract noun)

    Pause again, and think of at least six non-count nouns you already know.

    Nouns that are BOTH Count and Non-Count
    ::两者均计数和非计数的名名词

    Remember how I said that some nouns do not follow the rules? Well, there are are nouns that are BOTH count and non-count. It depends on the  definition  of the noun. This means that sometimes one word can mean more than one thing, or the meaning can change depending on the situation the noun is being used. Your first (and maybe second and third) language has words like this too. 
    ::记得我曾说过有些名词不遵守规则吗? 嗯,有些名词是“BOTH ” , 有的名词是“BOTH ” , 有的没有名词。这取决于名词的定义。这意味着有时一个单词可以指不止一个东西,或者根据使用名词的情况,其含义可以改变。你的第一种语言(或许是第二和第三种语言)也有这样的词。

      Both Count and Non-Count Nouns

    Some nouns can be both count and non-count, depending on how their meaning in a sentence . These nouns often change from count to non-count depending if they are used to talk about specific things vs. general things.
    ::有些名词既可以是计数,也可以是非计数,这取决于其在句子中的含义。 这些名词通常会从计数变为非计数,取决于他们是否习惯于谈论具体的事情而不是一般的事情。

    Talking about specific, individual experience talking about an entire/whole experience
    I have had many good experiences teaching. I have had a lot of teaching experience in my life.


    This may be confusing at first, but with time and practice, you will understand this more. Do not worry if this sounds strange. The main thing to remember is that  these kinds of nouns exist .

    When you are learning new vocabulary, you will have a better chance of understanding how to use new nouns you learn if you know these three kinds: count, non-count and both.
