Count vs. Non-Count (Mass) Nouns
::计数对非计算( Mass) 名词Count and noun-count nouns are kinds of nouns. Each kind of noun has rules for the ways it is used. You can use nouns, especially new vocabulary, correctly if you know some of the rules. Of course, there are nouns that break the rules! Welcome to English, but most nouns do follow the rules that go with their type or kind.

::名词数These are nouns that have a plural form. For regular count nouns, you can add an -s or -es to them to make them plural . Irregular count nouns also have plural forms.Examples:

Pause for a moment, and think of at least six other count nouns you know. Try to think of some regular and irregular nouns.

::无记号(大号)名These nouns do not have a plural form or the plural form is not usually used with this kind of nouns. Other nouns that are often non-count are called abstract nouns. These nouns are about ideas rather than things, people or places. For example, happiness is an abstract, non-count noun.Examples:

Nouns that are BOTH Count and Non-Count
::两者均计数和非计数的名名词Remember how I said that some nouns do not follow the rules? Well, there are are nouns that are BOTH count and non-count. It depends on the definition of the noun. This means that sometimes one word can mean more than one thing, or the meaning can change depending on the situation the noun is being used. Your first (and maybe second and third) language has words like this too.

This may be confusing at first, but with time and practice, you will understand this more. Do not worry if this sounds strange. The main thing to remember is that these kinds of nouns exist .
