  • In this lesson, you'll use the image, "13_OakTree.jpg." Before continuing, click on the Resources tab and download the image.

    Black and white images can have a classic look. In addition, they are longer-lasting than color images, because they don’t fade as quickly after printing. You can turn any image into a black and white image by desaturating it. Desaturate means removing the colors, leaving them in shades of black, gray, and white.

    Open the image “Credit2_09_OakTree.jpg” in Pixlr Editor.  Click on the Adjustment m enu, and choose Desaturate .

    You can give more of an appearance of depth by adjusting the brightness and contrast with  Brightness & Contrast ,  Levels , or  Curves . Here is the image after adjusting with   Brightness & Contrast .
