    We say that a set of data is related inversely if the independent increases and dependent variables decreases or vice versa. For example, the further away from an object that you are, the smaller it appears. In inverse variation, the variables are related inversely. As x gets bigger, y would get smaller. The inverse variation equation is y = k x ; k , x 0 . We still call k the constant of variation and y is said to vary inversely with x . k can also be written k = x y .
