    Can you see a lunar eclipse?
    ::你能看见月蚀吗?

    On average,  lunar  eclipses happen a few times per  year , and anyone with a view of the Moon can see them.  The years 2023 and 2024 will only have partial and penumbral lunar eclipses. The next total  lunar eclipse  will be on March 14, 2025, and will be visible from much the Americas, as well as western Europe and Africa.   After that, the next three total lunar eclipses will occur on September 7, 2025 (Asia, Australia, and eastern Europe); March 3, 2026 (Americas, Asia, Australia); and December 31, 2028 (Europe, Asia, Africa, and western North America).

    Lunar Eclipses

    Sometimes a  full moon  moves through Earth's  shadow . This is a  lunar eclipse  ( Figure   ). During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon travels completely in Earth’s  umbra . During a partial lunar eclipse, only a portion of the Moon enters Earth’s umbra. When the Moon passes through Earth’s  penumbra , it is a penumbral eclipse. Since Earth’s shadow is large, a lunar eclipse lasts for hours.

    Partial lunar eclipses occur at least twice a year, but total lunar eclipses are less common. The Moon glows with a dull red coloring during a total lunar eclipse ( Figure   ).

    Summary
    ::摘要

    • During a lunar eclipse, the full moon moves through Earth's shadow.
      ::在月食期间 满月穿过地球的阴影
    • Earth's shadow is large so lunar eclipses last longer than solar eclipses. They cover more area too.
      ::地球的阴影是巨大的,所以月蚀持续的时间比日蚀长。它们覆盖的面积也更大。
    • The umbra is the part of the shadow in which light is completely blocked.
      ::乳房是阴影的一部分 光线被完全堵住了
    • The penumbra is the part of the shadow that is partially lit.
      ::薄膜是部分光线被照亮的阴影的一部分。
