      Why are parts of speech important?

    For this class , it's important to know the parts of speech, and how they work in an English sentence. Knowing the parts of speech and how each part works  will help you to understand and write more complex sentences. This will also help us to discuss and build our knowledge of English grammar because we know the definitions of the terms and vocabulary we will all be using in this class.

       Note on pronouns:
    ::关于代名词的说明:

    Some English teachers do not count pronouns as part of the parts of speech. They say that pronouns act a lot like nouns, and so we do not need to study them separately. I count them as a part of speech because they have a lot of their own rules and vocabulary to memorize, so sometimes it is easier to study them separately from nouns. However, you are welcome to disagree with me. Be sure you can say why in your own words if you decide you do!
