Section outline

  • Previously, we have discussed functions that involve adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing the variable. We have even raised the variable to powers. But what if the variable is the power? Functions with the variable as the exponent are called exponential functions.

    We will discuss exponential functions in this chapter. We will also cover the logarithmic function, which  is the inverse of the exponential function.

    These functions can be used to model many real-world phenomena, including population growth, compound interest, and the pitch of the sounds around you.
