    • You can divid e a fraction by a whole number  rewriting the fraction as a sum of smaller equal fractions.

    • If the divisor  go evenly  into the numerator, you only have to divide the numerator by the divisor to find the numerator of the quotient. The denominator will stay the same.

    For  12 5 ÷ 4  
    ::125=4

    The numerator, 12 ,  can be evenly divided by the divisor,  4 ,  to get  3.  The denominator will stay the same:
