A RICE chart allows chemists to keep track of the concentrations of different substances in a chemical reaction 1 . Cave formation is an example of a chemical reaction in nature. To form a cave, groundwater—which is a weak acid containing carbon dioxide dissolved in water—seeps into the ground and reacts with limestone.
